Inclusion Diversity Equity and Belonging Intern

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Belonging Intern at the Greater Omaha Chamber, you will play a vital role in supporting our DEI program and initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of diversity and inclusion and contribute to meaningful projects that align with our DEI goals. You will work closely with our CODE/DEI team and leaders throughout the organization to drive positive change.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on best practices, industry trends, and benchmarking to identify opportunities for improving our DEI Resource Library. Analyze data related to diversity and inclusion efforts, helping to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Program Support: Assist in the coordination and execution of CODE programs and initiatives, including workshops, training sessions, and events. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.
  • Communication: Contribute to developing internal and external CODE’s communications materials, including newsletters, reports, and presentations. Help raise awareness of CODE initiatives and provide regular updates to the organization.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with diverse employee groups, employee resource groups (ERGs), and external partners. Assist in organizing and participating in community outreach events and initiatives to promote a culture of inclusion.
  • Project Management: Lead and support specific CODE projects, such as Growing Home, developing diversity recruitment strategies, or launching employee resource groups. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Training and Development: Participate in DEI training sessions and workshops to build your knowledge and skills in diversity and inclusion. Share insights and learnings with the team to enhance program effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field (e.g., Human Resources,
  • Sociology, Diversity & Inclusion, Social Sciences).
  • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion and a strong desire to drive change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • A passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion related to workforce and education and a basic knowledge of workplace diversity.
  • Ability to operationalize programs and initiatives with a focus on efficiency, automation and scalability.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Proficient communicator in all mediums.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database management in a Windows-based environment including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity and adaptability to various enterprise systems and applications beyond Microsoft tools.
